Mixed-Layer (ML) depth from hydrographic profiles taken during the SouthWest Indian Geotrace Section (SWINGS) cruise (R/V Marion Dufresne Jan-Mar 2021). MLD was determined from visual inspection of individual T, S, and Sig0 profiles, with guidance based on usual delta T and delta_sig0 criteria. In some instances a shallower ML with weak stratification at its base sits on top of a deeper, older, ML with stronger basal stratification. The depth of the shallower, younger, mixed layer is retained as the MLD, which may not always be the most relevant choice depending on the application. However, the depth of the older, deeper, ML is provided in the MLD2 variable where applicable.
