Farranula rostrata (Claus, 1863)
 

Total length :0.7 to 0.8 mm

How to recognize a Farranula female:

Using a binocular :

Pair of large cuticular lenses on the top of the head.

Corners of the last pedigerous segment symmetrically pointed.

Beak shaped ventral process, visible laterally

Using a microscope :

Last two prosome segments fused

Urosome 1-segmented

2 branched setae on A2 basipod

P4 without endopod and with only one setae on basipod.

 

How to differenciate F. rostrata from other Farranula

Using a binocular :

Prosome narrowing regularly in lateral view.

Furca short (less than 1/4 prosome length).
