AVOS_Amundsen_README.txt (this file) 1. Data/AVOS_20yy00x.int: (yy, last two digits of the year ; x, the leg number); 2. Amundsen_AVOS_QAQC_Report_20yy.pdf A leg is a determined period (usually 42 days) during which the sampling operation are scheduled. - No data are available for the beginning of the mission 2003-2004. - 2003-2004 and 2007-2008 were overwintering expeditions, for consistency within the notation, folders and files' names start with the year in which the expedition started (this is why 2004 data are within 2003 files). - No data were collected in 2012, the vessel was in maintenance (dry docks). MISCELLANEOUS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Voluntary Observing Ship (VOS): The VOS Scheme is an international program comprising member countries of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) that recruit ships to take, record and transmit weather observations whilst at sea. http://sot.jcommops.org/vos/ DATA CONTROL AND VARIABLES DEFINITION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A- Data source Environment Canada AVOS meteorological system installed onboard the CCGS Amundsen (http://www.amundsen.ulaval.ca/) B- Brief description of data processing The complete and concise description of the processing method, DATA UNCERTAINTY, PRECISION, and ACCURACY of the measurements and data is provided within the QAQC report supplied with these data. Ancillary data used for data processing are the Amundsen Navigation data CCIN 12447, available on the PDC https://www.polardata.ca/.
