Directions to LOV
Villefranche-sur-Mer is located between
Nice and the Principality of Monaco.
Directions to the Laboratoire d'Océanographie
de Villefranche:
- By bus
from the airport: There is a bus
service between the Aéroport International
Nice-Côte d’Azur (Nice-Côte d’Azur
International Airport) and Villefranche-sur-Mer
(15 km). There are also buses to Nice and Nice’s
main train station, Gare de Nice.
- By train: There
are direct lines between the train stations in Villefranche-sur-Mer,
Nice and major French and European towns.
- By car: Follow
Highway A8 and take the exit “Nice – Promenade
des Anglais” and then continue adjacent to the
sea in the direction on Monaco or continue on Highway
A8 until the “Nice Est” exit, then take
the direction for the Nice Port and finally the “basse
corniche” in the direction of Monaco.
LOV is spread amongst the 4 main
buildings of the Observatoire
Océanologique: “la
corderie” (where ship rope/lines were made), “la
vielle forge” (the old smithy), “le batiment
des galeriens” (the building where the galley slaves
were housed), and “le batiment Jean Maetz” (Jean
Metz building).
